Facebook and Instagram users beware. A group of fraudsters are claiming money through Meta’s ‘Rights Manager’ tool by claiming against various Facebook and Instagram accounts. They complained to Meta and threatened to close their Facebook and Instagram accounts if the demanded amount was not paid. As a result, many Facebook and Instagram users are forced to pay to keep their accounts active.
Fraudsters also secretly post infringing photos or videos on specific Facebook and Instagram accounts by exploiting a technical flaw in Meta’s ‘Rights Manager’ tool. Later they demanded money in the name of fine as the picture or video violated the intellectual property.
According to a Bloomberg report, in the meantime, fraudsters have collected money by accusing the Facebook and Instagram accounts of popular people and organizations living in different countries of the Middle East for intellectual property violations. And so to protect other users from this problem, Meta has started working to fix the technical error in the Rights Manager tool.
