Google has released a new security patch to fix the ‘Zero Day’ flaw in Android

Google released a new security patch that fixes a total of 46 bugs in the Android operating system, including a ‘zero day’ bug. The company said that the security patch has also fixed several bugs including malicious remote code execution. And so they advised everyone to quickly use the new security patch to stay safe from cyber attacks.

The ‘zero day’ flaw identified by Google’s Threat Analysis Group as ‘CVE-2024-36971’ is primarily a flaw in the Linux kernel-based network management system. By exploiting this flaw, cybercriminals can remotely change the network connection of a smartphone or tablet computer to steal important information. And so, after knowing the matter, Google quickly released new security patches for Android.

Android users can be exposed to cyber attacks at any time due to old flaws if they do not use new security patches. However, Google did not say whether any cyber attacks have taken place using the flaws.

Zero day vulnerabilities are basically software vulnerabilities. Various organizations release security patches to quickly resolve errors in their own software. But if hackers can exploit the flaw before the patch is released, it’s called a zero-day vulnerability.
